Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger met with Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy on Friday as a £22 million move for the key attacker is close to completion, according to The Sun.
The Gunners fans have urged their manager to sign a proven goalscorer consistently over recent years, with the supporters unconvinced that Olivier Giroud is the man to lead the club to silverware.
Vardy was a sensation in Leicester’s unexpected Premier League title triumph and broke Ruud van Nistelrooy’s long-standing record for goals in consecutive top flight fixtures.
With the former non-league star preparing to feature for England in Euro 2016 this summer, the North London side are believed to be keen to wrap up a deal for the attacker before the tournament begins next Friday.
The report suggests that it is only a matter of time before Vardy puts pen to paper, as Wenger met with the striker at the end of last week and gave him assurances over the role he will play at the Emirates Stadium.
